Stone Of Barenziah : #1

Still at it.

I jumped on another project. I do this quite often, to not get burned out working on the same stuff.

So here's my WIP of this Skyrim fan art.

Just some fan art

I got really bored. So I decided to work on some fan art. I'm a big fan and supporter of Kojima Productions, and obviously Kojima himself.

(I do realize there are several capable and talented artists tackling this task)

For me, this is just another learning experience.

PT_Original

I love the horror genre, mainly for the lighting and atmosphere.

I myself am not really a good light artist, so this project should help me learn more on the subject.

My take

Looking at this shot, I can see the the door is a bit wider than it should be.

I feel like I shouldn't have to say this, but...
I'm currently just blocking the scene out. getting the scale down, quickly getting familiar with the lights.
I was surprised, I had to add several lights in the scene to get a very similar look to the original.

So same story, expect the quality to get better over time.

Anyway, I just wanted to post stuff, Enjoy.

Another update

I just got back from an amazing two week trip from India. And I have been super busy learning new and exciting software. Suffice it to say, it's been great these past several months.

I've been knee deep in Unity3D, the Allegorithmic Substance software, among other things.

So, here's more shots of what I have been up to.

This is a demo we showed in India. The demo mostly focuses on Unity's updated physics and lighting features.
For the past year, I have picked up several contracts that have me working in simulations. One of my tasks is to make a huge push towards utilizing Unity as the visualizing platform.

This was a two person team effort.
I provided the art and one of my coworkers supplied the programming/physics vehicle rigging.

Most of the assets were modeled and textured by me. Other assets were acquired elsewhere (We were under a harsh deadline). I had a blast working on the scene in Unity, setting up materials, lighting, camera effects and so on.

I'll be adding a video of the demo within the next couple of weeks.

Chess : Update #04

I added more details in the texture... Discoloration, scratches... Just some subtle things to break it up a bit.

After receiving some feedback, I altered the material a bit, I bumped up the roughness. It looked too shiny before. I also did my best to lower the visibility on some of the seams that were noticeable in the last shot.

Chess : Update #03

I finally made some progress in learning some more of Substance Painter, which was what I was after from the beginning.
(These images were screencap'd from within Substance Painter.)

I was already super impressed with the Substance software, but after a few hours of using them... I have to say, I am a fan for life!

I'm still focusing on texturing, I want to add a few more subtle scratches on the chess pieces and on some other areas of the chess board.
After exporting the new textures from Painter, I'll work on some final edits within photoshop, and then back to Unity for some lighting and material work.

Chess : Update #02

Got a good push this weekend. Here is some more progress.
For those of you who like to see some behind the scenes stuff, here's a couple of wireframes.

I'm narrowing down my textures. I'll be posting up a web player demo for those who want to rotate around the scene. You can find it in the "Unity Web Demos..." widget on the right.

Its coming right along, I'm happy so far, but I know I can push it even further.

Slowly but surely : Chess : Update #01

Here is an update on one of my latest works.

You'll be seeing more unity related content.

I've been very busy these past several months. In between jobs, personal matters, etc... But things are going back to normal, so I'll be able to focus more on my personal content.

Because I have an unstable work schedule, I am only able to work on my stuff every so often, so its difficult to pin down when my next post will be.

MGS FTW!!! (WIP)

Heres a work in progress...

Link to Web Player.

Been re-playing all of my favorite Metal Gear Solid Games, which are all of them, and yes
that includes MGS: PO

And to be clear, MGS is by far my favorite game in history... just thought i'd throw that out there.

Started about a week ago, I try to work on personal projects when I can, Its tough with work and collaborative projects on the side.

So, definitely don't think I abandon my own stuff, just busy on other, more pressing matters.

Shader Forge - A Visual Shader Editor

I recently bought Shader Forge on the Unity Asset Store, and I must say it is a welcome addition to Unity.
Takes me back to my Unreal days...

Here is a sample I've been working on.
This was my third attempt at this shader, but I do believe I have achieved
what I was looking for with this one.

One more video for you...

So, I really wanted to post another video regarding Ranorex. Only this time, I deemed it necessary to show off some of that unity goodness. Also, doesn't hurt to sharpen up them skills.

More to the point, I'm using Ranorex's image based recognition capabilities.

In this video, I create a simple "mini game", and  I do mean simple. The focus here is Ranorex, right?

Note:
I spent the first 15 minutes or so making the game, If you're not interested, then feel free to skip ahead.

2014 Global Game Jam !!! Team SUKI !

Was pretty busy this past weekend. A buddy called up, asked if I wanted to participate, and immediately said yes!
And thus, Team SUKI was born...

Had the pleasure of working with veterans and newcomers from the game community.
Met some Unity guys while I was there.
All in all, it was an amazing experience!
